Porfirio’s is modern Mexican done with craft and a sense of theater. Dinner starts unhurried: Oaxacan enmoladas with black mole, aguachiles and regional classics, in a room built for lingering. Then the mariachi arrives.
Twice in the evening, the band takes over: trumpets, violins, and a room that stops mid-conversation. Between sets it settles back into dinner, so you can still hear each other talk. If you want a party after dessert, this is not the place. If you want a proper Mexican dinner with a moment in the middle, reserve a table.

Service and Food was impeccable! Ivana immediately greeted our table of four and immediately a drink recommendation was given! And what a great drink it turned out to be! The shared short ribs were tender and full of flavour. The views from the back deck enhanced every moment we were there. Lively salsa style music keeps an upbeat vibe going throughout the evening. The staff constantly checking on allergies and even changing cooking methods to ensure one of our party remained allergy free.

The flavors were vibrant, elevated, and perfectly executed. But what really blew us away was the presentation—every plate was a brilliant work of art. The attention to detail, the creativity, and the flair made the meal feel like a true culinary event. The Staff & Atmosphere The service was just as amazing as the food. The entire team was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had a great time. A special shoutout to Jorge, who was absolutely fantastic! He recommended perfect drinks and brought such a warm, fun energy to the evening that truly elevated the whole experience. If you are looking for an unforgettable meal with world-class service, stunning presentation, and top-tier flavors, Porfirio's is the place to be. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
I had a really great experience overall. I absolutely loved the location — it’s beautiful and has a great atmosphere. The show was amazing and very well executed; you can tell there’s a lot of effort and passion behind everything they do. The service was also a highlight, especially from Maestra Mérida — she was excellent, very attentive, and truly made the experience feel special. The only downside for me was that I felt a bit rushed during the visit. It seemed like we weren’t fully able to relax and enjoy the moment, almost as if there was some pressure for us to finish up and leave. I’m not sure if it was because we were tourists or maybe we didn’t “fit the usual profile,” but I didn’t notice the same happening with other tables, which made it stand out more. That said, despite that small issue, I still had a really good time. It was a fun night, the experience was memorable, and I would still say it’s worth visiting.
This is the second time we come to the restaurant in three days. The restaurant is outstanding. The host remembers us and address us by our name. She takes us to our seat by the lagoon, carefully points out the steps on our way - just those minor details show the care and effort the restaurant extends to the customers. Food is wonderful. We ordered beef soup, corn soup, chicharrones, calamari, meat balls, and tortas. Everything tastes wonderful: fresh, flavorful, delicious. I especially recommend the corn soup and the mashed potato with Serrano chili: unique. Our servers are attentive and friendly. They notice that I and my boyfriend are on vacation together, and they give us champagne for two on the house to celebrate. Eddwi and Amado are our servers. The atmosphere is perfect. I can feel gentle breeze from the lagoon, with sparkling lights from the other side – so chill, so romantic. The music and audio system is top notch too. They play both classic and famous latin and mexican songs. I enjoy that touch of culture so much. Overall, this restaurant is an awesome find! I will be coming back in the future, bringing friends and family.
Very nice restaurant within walking distance of the JW Marriott about 8 to 10 minutes. Traffic to across the street can be a challenge sometimes just have to time it well. But, made a reservation through the concierge as it gets busy sometimes around sunset. But outstanding atmosphere and wonderful customer service. Very professional and clean…music was a touch loud for me, as it was hard to have a conversation, but it’s a fun atmosphere and wasn’t a huge issue. Just had to talk a little louder. The menu is fantastic and the food took maybe 30 minutes to bring out. I had the giant breaded chicken Milanesa. They pounded chicken flat almost to like it looks like a tortilla. Still tasted nice, but it kind of reminded me of having a giant deli piece of chicken deep fried, and it came with shoestring french fries. I wasn’t completely filled with it but next time I’ll probably get an appetizer to go with it. Also, they looked pretty good. Also ordered the octopus, which is really good and the atmosphere was very upbeat and festive. They played a lot of 80s music and then it switched up to local Mexican music where the sombreros came out and everybody was having a great time. Sunset views are beautiful and prices are definitely reasonable.
