Xcaret

How to Get There

Xcaret is about 60 minutes south of Cancun, near Playa del Carmen. For a full day on the Regular or Plus ticket, leave Cancun around 7:30 AM to be at the gates when they open at 8:30 AM, and stay for the evening show before the drive back. Short on time? The At Night ticket starts at 4 PM, and Xoximilco, a Mexican fiesta on the canals with dinner, is only 30 minutes from Cancun.

Our recommendation: If you’re spending the full day, the Plus ticket is worth it. The buffet lunch alone justifies the upgrade, and you get snorkel gear and a locker included. If you only have an evening, the At Night ticket gets you the show and a few hours of the park at a lower price.

Things to Do

Water

A person in a red life jacket swims through a turquoise waterway at Xcaret, framed by mossy rocks and lush greenery.

Underground Rivers

The signature Xcaret experience. Float through three underground limestone cave systems wearing a life jacket: crystal-clear freshwater, stalactites overhead, dappled jungle light filtering through openings. Choose from different routes. Secure bags for your belongings are provided.

People ride a wooden raft called Flaquita, drifting on clear water through Xcaret’s vibrant jungle and rocky landscape.

Paradise River

A calmer alternative to the underground rivers. Sail through the same landscapes on a raft, good for those who want to see the caves without getting fully in the water.

Four people in swimsuits and snorkel gear get ready to enter a turquoise lagoon at Xcaret, surrounded by lush greenery.

Xcaret’s Aquatic Paradise

Caribbean beach, a protected inlet for swimming, and natural pools to lounge in. Bring your own snorkel gear or rent at the park (included with Plus ticket).

Nature & Wildlife

Aquarium at Xcaret with signs, coral reefs, and marine life in a large lit pool surrounded by textured walls and blue lighting.

Coral Reef Aquarium

Walk through an aquarium showcasing the reef ecosystems of the Mexican Caribbean: coral, tropical fish, rays, and more, all without getting in the water.

A couple stands before a waterfall at Xcaret, surrounded by lush greenery, parrots, and vibrant tropical plants.

Aviary

Walk through a natural sanctuary where tropical birds interact freely: toucans, macaws, flamingos, and more.

A sea turtle glides underwater in clear blue ocean at Xcaret, sunlight streaming down to the bright sandy sea floor.

Sea Turtles

See sea turtles of all sizes and learn about Xcaret’s conservation program: the park has released millions of baby turtles into the wild.

A black panther and a spotted jaguar rest side by side in a lush green forest at Xcaret, surrounded by dense trees.

Jaguars Island

Spot jaguars, pumas, and other big cats in a natural jungle habitat as you walk through the park.

Two people stand on a stone path in Xcaret, surrounded by lush jungle and colorful butterflies among hanging vines and trees.

Tropical Jungle Trail

A quiet walking path through native jungle, past trees the Maya held sacred, like the ceiba.

Culture & Architecture

Costumed performers, one in a large feathered headdress, emerge from smoky lights onstage during Xcaret’s vibrant night show.

Xcaret México Espectacular

The park’s crown jewel. A nightly show with 300+ performers on a massive stage: traditional music, dance, horsemanship, fire, and a journey through Mexico’s history from pre-Hispanic civilizations to modern day. Plan your day so you’re still in the park for this.

A glowing tree with sprawling roots hovers over a stone altar in a grand, chapel-like hall at Xcaret, surrounded by art.

Chapels

Two chapels integrated into the natural landscape: the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe (with underground tunnels) and the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel at the park’s highest point with Caribbean views.

Arched entrance to La Casa de los Murmullos at Xcaret, with two statues, building sign, barred windows, and cherubs.

House of Whispers

A hilltop house with odd acoustics: whisper at one end and someone at the other end hears every word.

Graves at Xcaret are adorned with orange marigolds, potted plants, and tiny church-like structures in a vibrant outdoor setting.

“Bridge to Paradise” Mexican Cemetery

A colorful artistic interpretation of a Mexican cemetery that reflects the country’s unique relationship with death. Symbolic, surprising, and genuinely moving.

Thatched round huts amid palm trees at Xcaret, with people in traditional dress gathered on the grass nearby.

Pre-Hispanic Village

A recreation of an ancient Mayan village: homes, customs, and daily life. Comes alive at sunset with performers and ceremonies.

Women in vibrant Mexican dresses and sombreros perform horseback riding at Xcaret, amid colorful banners and rustic buildings.

Horse Exhibition

Live charrería: traditional Mexican horsemanship with charros and adelitas riding Azteca horses. A colorful, energetic show.

A Mayan stone ruin at Xcaret stands among trees, with a small structure atop a stepped platform and lush greenery all around.

Ancient Sites

Original Mayan ruins inside the park. Xcaret was once Polé, a Mayan port for trade, sea travel, and worship.

For Families

Guests dine and chat at round tables with wicker chairs under white umbrellas, surrounded by greenery and colorful walls.

Main Plaza

The entrance plaza: food, crafts, and Mexican music.

Two kids in pink life jackets slide down a double water slide at Xcaret, surrounded by rocks and lush green trees.

Children’s World

A dedicated area for kids under 12: slides, hanging bridges, tunnels, shallow cenotes, and interactive activities. Exclusively for children.

A blue and red observation tower at Xcaret lifts people in a glass cabin over white buildings, mangroves, and sparkling water.

Scenic Tower

Rise 80 meters (260 ft) for a 360° view over the jungle, rivers, and Caribbean. Slow-rotating, good for all ages and fitness levels.

Included

  • All activities
  • Xcaret México Espectacular evening show
  • Life jackets and safety equipment

I genuinely cannot recommend this team enough. From start to finish, Paula was absolutely amazing to work with. She was so understanding, flexible, and responsive the entire time — no matter how last minute our changes were, she always replied right away and helped make everything work seamlessly. One of the things that stood out the most was how thoughtful and organized everything was. They even created a custom itinerary website for our group, which made planning and staying organized so easy. Beyond logistics, they guided us to all the places that actually had a great vibe and energy — not tourist traps or dead spots. Every recommendation ended up being such a good time. The level of communication, attention to detail, and willingness to accommodate us made the entire experience stress-free and honestly elevated our trip so much. You can tell they genuinely care about making sure people have the best experience possible. I would 100% book through them again and trust them with future trips. Thank you Paula and team for making everything unforgettable 🤍

Frequently Asked Questions

Can kids do everything?

Yes, it’s arguably the most family-friendly park. Children’s World is a dedicated area for under-12s. There’s no minimum age, and the underground rivers, aquarium, turtles, and butterfly pavilion are all hits with kids.

Is food included?

Only with the Plus ticket (buffet lunch at any of 5 restaurants). Regular and At Night tickets do not include food. You can buy it inside the park. There are multiple restaurants and food stands.

How does this compare to Xel-Ha?

Xcaret is bigger, more varied, and culture-heavy: 50+ attractions, wildlife, architecture, and a massive evening show. Xel-Ha is a natural water park: all-inclusive food and drinks, focused on snorkeling and water activities. Xcaret is the full-day “do everything” park. Xel-Ha is the “float, snorkel, eat, repeat” park.

How does this compare to Xplor?

Xplor is pure adrenaline: ziplines, amphibious vehicles, underground rafting, water slides. Xcaret is nature, culture, and variety: underground rivers, wildlife, architecture, and the evening show. Completely different experiences.

How do I pay?

The full amount is paid with an online payment link. Prefer Mexican pesos? Just let us know.
