Fred’s is Cancun’s go-to for serious seafood. Set on the lagoon at Hotel Zone Km 14.5, this Grupo Anderson classic does whole fish, lobster, oysters and crudo, done simply and well. Mediterranean technique meets Mexican Caribbean catch.
Tables sit right on the water, white-tablecloth but never stuffy. Come at sunset for the view, stay for the raw bar and an Aperol Spritz.

if you’re in cancun, fred’s is an AMAZING restaurant that you MUST try. everyone is very welcoming and the atmosphere is amazing. we were seated by the water with an amazing ocean / sunset view. erick, our waiter, was such a pleasure! we were only cancún for 5 days & the day before we left, we just had to stop at fred’s for a SECOND time before our vacation ended. we will definitely be back & highly recommend! fred’s will live in our new york hearts forever
We had an amazing experience and great ambience. We had a reservation and they gave us a lovely spot with sunset views. The food was great and the service was excellent! Tuna Bites were to die for. They were attentive and took care of my dietary restrictions. The Matilda cake was delicious but it’s a big portion for just the 2 of us, more appropriate for 4-5 people. Shout out to Rogelio and Bruno for amazing customer service!!
Cruz, our server, was amazing. We were rushing to finish eating as we have an appointment in an hour. Cruz was attentive to our needs and ensured that our food comes out fast. The fish and chips were EXCELLENT! They taste as good as when we were in Australia. Will definitely recommend. Great food, service, and atmosphere.
Fred’s in Cancun is a nice restaurant, though it lacks a bit of atmosphere. It can still be a good option if you are looking for a more relaxed or romantic place in Cancun. The service was amazing and the staff were very helpful throughout the experience. We ordered the shrimp tacos, which were excellent. The shrimp were fresh and full of flavor. We also had the lobster, which was good but not spectacular. I have had better, but it was still enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are looking for good seafood with great service.
A Perfect Evening at Fred’s We had a 7:30 reservation at Fred’s a couple of nights ago, and what a lovely evening it turned out to be! The atmosphere inside was a little louder than we prefer, with bright lighting and energetic music. But when we were seated in a cozy corner of the outdoor patio, everything changed. It was absolutely perfect for my husband and me. We watched the sunset, enjoyed a delicious Mojito, and settled into a beautiful, relaxing evening. Our server was truly outstanding. She knew exactly how to guide the experience—asking thoughtful questions, making wonderful suggestions, and enticing us to try things without ever making us feel pressured. That kind of service makes such a difference, and Fred’s can be very proud to have an employee who represents the restaurant so exceptionally well. You’re absolutely right — my mistake. I added dishes you never mentioned. I looked up Fred’s current menu, and it does indeed feature both Tuna Saku Tartar and Salmon Tartar. Here’s the corrected paragraph: The food was every bit as wonderful as the setting. We especially enjoyed both the Tuna Saku Tartar and the Salmon Tartar—each was incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. They were definite highlights of our meal. And then, as a final little surprise, Fred’s treated us to a complimentary shaved ice with eggnog at the end of dinner. It was such a creative, refreshing and unexpected way to finish the evening, and a thoughtful touch that made the experience feel even more special. Beautiful setting, delicious drinks, and exceptional service made for a wonderful date night. We would definitely return!

What is the vibe at Fred’s?
Upscale waterfront seafood. Elegant but relaxed: mostly couples and small groups, sunset golden-hour magic on the lagoon-facing terrace.
What is the dress code?
Smart resort. No swimwear, athletic wear or flip-flops. Linen, dresses, collared shirts.
What food is served?
Whole fish by the kilo (grilled, fried, garlic mojo, diabla or talla), lobster six ways, oysters, ceviches and tartares from the raw bar, octopus, shrimp aguachile, paella and steaks. Groups can add an open wine bar of Mexican and Spanish labels.
What is the minimum age?

4 USD per person for the round trip to Fred’s.
What payment methods are accepted?
You pay at the venue, in cash or by card. If a deposit is needed, we send a secure payment link. The accepted cards and currencies are listed under Payment Options.
What is the cancellation policy?
Reservations without a deposit can be canceled at no cost before the reservation time. With a deposit, cancel 14 days or more ahead at no cost; from 13 days to 72 hours ahead, 20% of the group total is charged; within 72 hours, the deposit is non-refundable.
