Born on Tulum’s beach, brought to the Hotel Zone. Taboo is a Mediterranean restaurant: wood-fired meats, fresh seafood, a raw bar and shareable Med plates. Thursday to Saturday, live sax and violin escalate as the night goes on, before the fireworks at 10 PM. The party keeps going after them.
The room is moody and tribal-glamorous: low lights, candles, raw textures, big music. Best with a group and a good outfit.

David made our night at Taboo in Cancun absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we sat down, his energy, attention to detail, and genuine friendliness stood out. Every cocktail he made was perfectly crafted—balanced, creative, and honestly some of the best drinks we had all trip. He anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask, kept the vibe fun, and made us feel like VIPs the entire time. You can tell he truly takes pride in his work and loves what he does. Where do I begin!? The Taboo dining/entertainment experience— no one else is doing it like Taboo Cancun. The service — we made reservations via Open Table and were greeted by a friendly and warm hostess. The servers work as a team and several of them checked on us throughout the evening. We didn’t wait long for our drinks nor our food. The space — we were there for dinner so the lighting is dim and sexy and there are candles at every table. It creates a sense of intimacy and mystery. The DJ is playing music, a wide variety of—Michael Jackson to David Guetta. There are “hype” girls and guys who go around clapping, dancing and adding fun to the party. The servers join all the creative singing and clapping and the contagious energy is sure to creep inside of you. You end up joining the fun, the dancing, singing, the moving and clapping! There was a saxophonist and violinist who were jammin’ and adding beautiful music to the party! The food was an experience in it of itself. We ordered the tuna tartar made with avocados, blood orange dressing and it was a limey perfection in flavor and texture. The minced beef skewer was perfectly seasoned and paired beautifully with a light, crisp salad. The table set is a feta mouse spread with olive oil pita chips and it was light and airy cheesey heaven. The lychee martini was the perfect evening drink. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff made it special by bringing out a yummy flaky dessert with a sparkler to commemorate the evening —the intentional touch to level up our experience! You MUST try Taboo Cancun — I am looking forward to trying out other Rosa Negra Group owned restaurants as they all seem to be an experience worth every penny.
We went on a Sunday night and we had an amazing time. Right when we arrived we were greeted by friendly hostesses and seated right away. The food was delicious, the service Angel and team provided was excellent and the vibe was perfect. They had a DJ who played upbeat music without being too loud. He had us dancing in our seats the entire night. They have so many surprises going on throughout the night such as sparkler birthday and bottle deliveries, a violinist and saxophone player, table side cooking and so much more. This is a great spot for a group celebration. We haven’t had this much fun at a restaurant in a long time and will definitely be back when we are in Cancun again!

What is the dress code?
Elegant. No swimwear, athletic wear or beach attire. Think dressy resortwear: linen, flowy dresses, dressy sandals.
What food is served?
Mediterranean: raw bar, ceviches and tartares, hummus and mezze, grilled octopus, whole fresh fish, wood-fired prime cuts, lamb, salads, pastas, and Med-style desserts. Strong cocktail and wine program.
What is the minimum age?
All ages welcome. Family-friendly through dinner; the energy turns into a party after 10 PM, so most families head home by then.
What is the discount on transportation when I make a reservation for 10 people or more?
4 USD per person for the round trip to Taboo.
What payment methods are accepted?
You pay at the venue, in cash or by card. If a deposit is needed, we send a secure payment link. The accepted cards and currencies are listed under Payment Options.
What is the cancellation policy?
Reservations without a deposit can be canceled at no cost before the reservation time. With a prepayment, cancel more than 10 days ahead and 10% of the group total is charged; from 10 days to 48 hours ahead, 50% of the group total is charged; within 48 hours, the prepayment is non-refundable.
